Transitional Housing, Support Groups & Outreach Services in Yorkton

At Shelwin House, we strive to provide support and safety to our residents, while also promoting lifestyles that are free from abuse. We offer in-house services, 24-hour counselling and support, and outreach programs, as well as referrals to agencies and organizations.


Domestic Abuse Support Services

Shelwin House provides the following services to those affected by domestic violence, including:

  • Shelter
  • Protection and Confidentiality
  • Meals and Emergency Supplies of Clothing
  • Advocacy and Referrals to Appropriate Agencies
  • Social Services Referrals
  • Legal Aid Referrals
  • Police Referrals
  • 24-Hour Crisis Line and Support Counselling

Crossroads: Domestic Violence Support Group

Holding sessions every Thursday afternoon and evening, our Crossroads support group is open to women who have experienced, or currently experiencing, domestic violence.

Yorkton Women in Need

Shelwin House is operated by Yorkton Women in Need Inc., an organization that works to address issues of domestic violence through:

  1. Meeting individual needs by providing short-term, alternative housing and other supportive services on a 24-hour basis to the immediate victims of domestic violence.
  2. Meeting community needs by increasing public awareness about domestic violence and providing public education.
  3. Meeting societal needs by encouraging and cooperating with other individuals, groups, and organizations both inside and outside the immediate area that are active in the field of domestic violence.

Areas We Serve

Although we are based in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, we can transition you from one house to another, from one province to another. Our services are not limited to one specific area.
